48.4 billion tenge (approximately $97.1 million) has been allocated from the Government’s reserve for fertilizer subsidies (excluding organic fertilizers), reports the press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
This measure is part of the President’s directives to double gross agricultural production by 2028 and increase the application of mineral fertilizers to 50% of the scientifically justified requirement.
Funds will be distributed as targeted current transfers to the akimats of the Abai, Akmola, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, and Turkistan regions.
The priority is the advance subsidy mechanism for fertilizers, which allows domestic manufacturers to receive budgetary funds in advance and supply fertilizers to agricultural producers at reduced prices. As a result of these measures, the fertilizer application level has reached 40% of the scientifically justified requirement for the first time. Before 2024, this figure did not exceed 21%.
Timely financial support from the Government ensures proper preparation for spring fieldwork, providing farmers with fertilizers and ultimately enabling higher and better-quality yields.
At Grow Expo Astana, held on April 8-10 in Astana, leading fertilizer manufacturers, including Bashinkom, KosAgroCommerce, Hosta Life World, Peter Peat, Lad, and others, will present their products. Explore a wide range of fertilizers and discover effective solutions to enhance soil fertility and increase crop yields.
