Kazakhstan and the Netherlands strengthen cooperation in smart agriculture

On January 21, 2026, a meeting between representatives of Kazakhstan and the Netherlands was held at the World Horti Center, an international center for greenhouse horticulture and sustainable agriculture in the Netherlands, reports DKNews. The talks involved the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands, Akan Rakhmetullin, and representatives of Dutch Greenhouse Delta led by CEO Mirjam Boekestijn.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in agriculture and the agro-industrial sector, with a strong emphasis on smart technologies, greenhouse solutions, and sustainable development.

Both sides noted the steady growth of bilateral cooperation in recent years. Particular attention was paid to the outcomes of business delegation visits organized over the past five years, which have contributed to the establishment of direct partnerships between companies, sectoral associations, and профиль institutions in Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.

Participants emphasized that cooperation has evolved from dialogue to practical implementation. This shift is especially evident in greenhouse production, agrotechnologies, and modern farming practices, where applied solutions, innovation, and technology transfer play a decisive role.

In this context, international industry platforms were highlighted as key tools for further cooperation. The parties discussed the participation of a Dutch business delegation in Grow Expo Astana, scheduled to take place from April 8 to 10, 2026, as well as the formation of a program for a Kazakh business delegation to attend the GreenTech Amsterdam forum, one of the world’s leading platforms for greenhouse technologies.

The discussion also covered current trends in agricultural cooperation, including the need to deepen the exchange of practical expertise, develop joint approaches, and implement sustainable solutions in response to climate challenges and food security priorities.

As part of Grow Expo Astana, representatives of Dutch Greenhouse Delta and Dutch manufacturers of greenhouse equipment and technologies will present applied solutions and technological expertise. From April 8 to 10, industry professionals will be able to visit the Dutch stand, ask questions to experts, and discuss practical known-how in greenhouse production.

The exhibition program will also include the Netherlands Day forum, where Dutch speakers will present real case studies and practical examples of sustainable Dutch greenhouse technologies adapted to different climatic conditions.

Visitor admission fees: online / prior to the exhibition — KZT 5,000 (free with promo code GEA2WB8ART); on-site / during the exhibition — KZT 10,000. The exhibition is primarily intended for professionals in the greenhouse and plant cultivation sectors. Visitors not related to the industry are admitted on a paid basis. Registration is available via the official link.
