On April 9, 2025, Astana will host a significant event for the greenhouse business of Kazakhstan — Astana Greenhouse Forum, within the framework of the International Plant Growing Exhibition Grow Expo Astana. This forum promises to be the first large-scale business platform where representatives of the greenhouse sector and government agencies will be able to discuss the most important issues related to the development of the industry and strengthening its position in the domestic and international markets.
Main forum participants
The Astana Greenhouse Forum will bring together leading representatives of the greenhouse business and government agencies of Kazakhstan. The meeting will be attended by Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, Vice-Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Agrarian Credit Corporation Kairat Sapulatov and representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Integration.
President of the Union of Greenhouses of Kazakhstan Nurlan Adilkhan and the largest companies of the greenhouse business, including BRBAPK, Green Capital Kazakhstan, Ecoinvest, Topar Greenhouses, Hot Springs, Green Eco, World Green Company, LST Market, Birlik, Pavlodar Greenhouse, Eurasian Green Product, SweetBerry KZ, KazTomat, Eco Valley, Greenhouse Kazakhstan, Greenhouse Technologies and UTK.
Key topics of the meeting
The forum aims to develop joint solutions for current industry challenges and strengthen support for the domestic greenhouse business. There are several main issues on the agenda:
1. Export risks. In the context of an unstable global economy and changes in trade agreements, the most important task is to ensure safe and sustainable access of products to foreign markets, including Russia and other countries.
2. Control over the import of tomatoes. The forum will discuss the need to regulate the import of tomatoes and the introduction of measures to protect the interests of Kazakhstani producers in conditions of high competition with imported products.
3. Gas and electricity tariffs. Greenhouses depend on energy sources, and finding the best solutions to reduce gas and electricity costs will help reduce the cost of production and improve its competitiveness.
4. Subsidizing sustainable tomato varieties. Industry representatives and government experts will discuss subsidizing sustainable tomato varieties adapted to local climatic conditions, which is an important part of state support for the greenhouse business.
