Сountry's largest greenhouse complex is being built in Shymkent
Deputy Prime Minister Serik Jumangarin held talks with Shahin Abbaso, Vice President of the Turkish company Alarko Holding. The meeting discussed the progress of the implementation of a major investment project for the cultivation of tomatoes, the cost of which is $ 650 million, reports Primeminister.kz.
The project provides for the construction of a greenhouse complex and a processing plant, which are planned to be completed in Shymkent by the end of 2025. The implementation will take place in two stages: the first will cover 45 hectares, the second — 130 hectares. After reaching full capacity, the complex will produce 51 thousand tons of products annually. The products will be supplied both to the domestic market and for export to Russia, Qatar and the UAE. It is planned to create about 2 thousand jobs within the framework of the project.
In addition, the company plans to build a plant for the production of greenhouse structures in Shymkent, which will speed up the construction time. A specialized academy will also be created to train agro-specialists according to international standards.
The parties discussed the draft and terms of the investment agreement, which includes measures of state support for the implementation of the project.
Serik Zhumangarin noted that the investor will receive comprehensive support and suggested considering the possibility of organizing production in other priority sectors of agriculture, such as deep processing of cereals, sugar beet and hides.
