Dutch Business Interested in Working in Kazakhstan’s Agricultural Sector

Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kazakhstan, Nico Schermers. During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the development of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.

Aidarbek Saparov emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to developing bilateral trade with the Netherlands in the agricultural sector.

The trade turnover of agricultural products continues to grow steadily, demonstrating a positive trend. At the end of 2024, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands increased by 19% compared to 2023, while exports grew by 39%.

On April 8, the next meeting of the Kazakhstan-Netherlands working group on agriculture will be held in Astana.
"Thanks to the working group, significant progress has been made in establishing active cooperation between the agencies of our two countries. Our common goal is to promote the sustainable development of agriculture and the food industry while adapting to challenges related to climate change. We are confident that the dialogue within the working group will not only allow us to discuss strategic areas of cooperation but also develop concrete steps for their implementation," the minister noted.
In turn, Nico Schermers announced that from April 8 to 10, Astana will host the international exhibition of equipment and technologies for plant cultivation, Grow Expo Astana 2025.
"Forty Dutch companies will participate in the exhibition, which demonstrates the high level of interest from Dutch businesses in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is preparing for membership in the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants. Cooperation with you in this regard is important for us since joining this organization will provide additional opportunities for access to expertise, knowledge, and plant varieties," said the Dutch Ambassador.
The parties also discussed cooperation in seed production, strengthening scientific collaboration, and educational activities.
